ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Degrees of Opportunity is funded by David and Christine Provost inspired by their passion for education, opportunity and access. This program commits to increasing graduation rates across the region through an evidence-based approach. Metro Detroit Youth Clubs has partnered with key local organizations, foundations, and beacons in the community to reach those in greatest need and from a diverse set of experiences in the program. Degrees of Opportunity starts by supporting students in high school, provides a 1-on-1 mentor-focused approach to help students graduate college, and utilizes these partnerships to help students connect to professional opportunities and develop a career plan. Through equity and data-driven outcomes, our mission is centered around opportunity.

We are so excited for our year one students in Degrees of Opportunity! Our team is dedicated to inspiring you to achieve your maximum potential. We are here to support you, tutor you, and help you connect with your peers on your path toward graduation. Also, you will have the opportunity to meet with some of the top employers in the city. In word word, our mission is opportunity.

Our team is here to help you think through what you need, keep you focused, and give you some motivation when you might need it most. We match you with your own mentor to develop a good working relationship that will empower you to graduate and start your career.

In High School

While in high school, Degrees of Opportunity works with students to help prepare for the college experience. This includes applying for college, seeking aid, and equipping them with a new computer.

1-on-1 Mentoring

Each student will have access to their personal mentor to help on a variety of concerns that may come up. This consistent engagement has been shown to increase the rate of success – in this case graduation.

Financial Support

Over the course of 4 years, students will receive over $12,000 in financial incentives Degrees of Opportunity is focused on helping students that need food, books, or other emergency needs that appear.
